My story with Omani frankincense: more than just a product, a clear choice
Partager
Welcome,
I'm Elodie, founder of Oliban Nature.
It all started in 2019, during a trip to Oman.
What was supposed to be a simple tourist stay turned into a real crush.
The landscapes, the gentle pace of life, the generosity of the inhabitants...
But above all, a discovery that would change many things for me: frankincense.
A natural, precious resin, extracted from the Boswellia Sacra tree, found particularly in the Dhofar region.
Its scent is unique. Deep. Soothing.
A warm, almost mystical aroma that instantly invites calm and serenity.

A discovery... and a frustration
I then brought frankincense back with me, first for my personal use, then to offer to my loved ones.
And very quickly, the conclusion was clear:
everyone loves it.
But one question kept coming back:
"Where can we find it in France?"
After several searches, I realized that:
Omani frankincense is extremely difficult to find... and above all, never with this quality.
An idea then began to germinate in my mind:
what if I offered it myself?
At that time, however, it seemed unachievable.
I was in a full-time permanent position, and starting a business seemed complicated, even inaccessible.
A decisive turning point
A few years later, in 2022, I decided to leave my permanent job to retrain in notary law.
But through various encounters, despite passionate and benevolent professionals, a doubt set in:
this path didn't truly suit me.
It was at this precise moment that my idea resurfaced.
And this time, I decided to listen to it.
I trained for 6 months in business creation, with a clear objective:
to bring this project that was close to my heart to life.
Back to the source
A few days after obtaining my certification, I flew to Oman again.
But this time, my perspective was different.
I was no longer just a traveler.
I was in search of meaning, quality, truth.
I went to meet local producers, especially in the Dhofar region, the historical home of frankincense.
I then discovered much more than a product.

A wild and precious resin
Contrary to what one might think, frankincense is not cultivated.
It comes from wild trees, the Boswellia Sacra, which grow naturally in extreme conditions, between intense heat and drought.
These trees, sometimes clinging to steep slopes, produce a rare resin, harvested by hand according to ancestral methods.
Nothing is industrialized.
Nothing is standardized.
Each piece is unique.
And it is precisely this authenticity that deeply impressed me.

A committed approach
Through Oliban Nature, I have chosen a simple yet demanding approach:
- A rigorous selection of the best resins
- Direct sourcing from southern Oman
- A relationship of trust with local producers
- An approach that respects the environment and natural resources
My goal is not just to sell a product.
It's to offer an experience, true to what I discovered there.
A millennia-old tradition
Frankincense has been used for thousands of years.
Already in the time of ancient Rome, it was considered a precious material, sometimes more expensive than gold.
Even today, it is prized for its many uses:
For well-being
It helps soothe the mind and promotes relaxation.
For burning
Its fragrance purifies the atmosphere and creates a warm and enveloping ambiance.
In a traditional approach
It has been used for centuries for its natural properties for health and cosmetics.

An invitation to travel
Through Oliban Nature, my wish is simple:
To introduce you to authentic, pure frankincense, deeply rooted in its history.
But also to offer you a timeless moment...
like a break from time.
A moment where the scent of this resin transports you,
to the heart of Oman's landscapes.
